Old School Calvary

It would be nice if I could stop here and say we are a peaceful, get-along family. But right when I want to do that, Eli goes and whacks his brother on the head with a drumstick when he knows he shouldn't. I already sense he is going to be trouble and that we have some difficult times ahead. Although some books recommend otherwise, here is Eli getting a timeout at 15 months because he is neither representing nor keeping it real:

Seriously, what mother would think this is so sad but so adorable that she has to take a picture? Oh yes, that would be me.

Last week, Jean and I met up with Dallae who was in town on business. There's definitely something special about the people you grew up with. And I don't think it's only because we knew each other when we had nicknames like Slicklips, Longjohns, Onyxlocks, and Budding Appalachians. I'm laughing as I write this. But as sad as it sounds, it wouldn't be for just anyone that I would take the two boys downtown by myself after work and attempt to have a pleasant meal while nauseous. On the flipside, I think only true friends would welcome my traveling chaos at their dinner. Jean said she thinks she has a picture like the one below from about 15 years ago. Seeing how tired I look in this photo makes me think that other one may have been the better upload.

Wow!  Look at the concentration on Eli's face as he's coloring!!  :)  Don't worry, I would have taken a pic of the time out as well... it's really cute.  I don't know how he's able to stay in the corner... if I stuck my nephew in time out he'd run straight for me and demand to be picked up.  Aww, I hope Eli doesn't get too many time outs.  I'm sure compared to gentle Jude he's more rambunctious, huh?

sounds like eli's going to be a typical middle child...but you, my friend, turned out pretty well so I have hope for eli...as for the old calvary folks, I, too, miss them! dallae is coming home later this week and looking forward to seeing old and true friends. we should have a reunion over the holidays in chicago if onyxlocks and longjohns can make it.yours truly, budding apps

"because he is neither representing nor keeping it real"... good grief, you should seriously think about writing a book.  even if your experiences are similar to every other mother's, no one is going to describe them like this.  you could be like bonnie hunt in "cheaper by the dozen", only without the 9 other kids

Hey, why doesn't Eli have his hands above his head? Oh, honey, I thought you were old school...j/kIt's so crazy to think that we've known each other since grade school. That's EONS!! And can you believe that we look exactly the same?? That's right, haven't changed a bit since high school.

Hi Lisa! congratulations on being pregnant again! Gosh, your family is so beautiful! Can you give me some tips on how you got Eli to stay in the corner for his time out? I'm clueless.
